Making room for instinct.

My practice comes from paying attention to the things that usually exist between the obvious. I am drawn to surfaces, fragments, movement, repetition, imperfect marks, and the visual tension that happens when contrasting elements occupy the same space.

I often begin without a completely defined destination. Layers are built, removed, interrupted, and rebuilt. The resulting work becomes a record of that process. I am interested in preserving evidence of the hand rather than hiding it.

Moving between physical and digital mediums allows me to approach similar ideas from different directions. Rather than treating the mediums as separate practices, I see them as extensions of the same visual language.
